It's Homecoming Week!! Parade, car show, football, fireworks, and more!!

Stanwood High School is kicking off Homecoming Week in downtown Stanwood and then keeping the Spartan spirit going all week long.

The annual Homecoming Parade will roll through downtown at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, launching a week that includes daily dress-up themes, a Homecoming assembly, a car show, Friday night football and fireworks, and the Homecoming Dance on Saturday.

Moving the parade to Monday is a change from past years, when its timing on or near game day made it difficult for students competing in athletics and other activities to take part. This year, more Spartans will have an opportunity to join their classmates in the parade and kick off Homecoming Week together.

The community is invited to line the downtown route and cheer on students and school groups as they travel along 92nd Avenue NW, 271st Street NW, 102nd Avenue NW, and 270th Street NW before returning to the staging area behind the Stanwood Police Station.

Roads along the parade route will close beginning at 5:15 p.m. See a map of the parade route below.

For participants, staging begins at 5 p.m. behind the Stanwood Police Station. No vehicles will be allowed in the parade. Student groups should have at least one staff member serving as a chaperone and may bring candy to hand out along the route.

Homecoming theme days

Students are invited to take part in a different dress-up theme each day:

  • Monday, Oct. 5: Pajama Day
  • Tuesday, Oct. 6: Sidekick Day — bring a stuffed animal
  • Wednesday, Oct. 7: Chameleon Day — camo out
  • Thursday, Oct. 8: “I’ve Got a Dream” — dress as your future career
  • Friday, Oct. 9: Class Colors — freshmen wear blue, sophomores yellow, juniors green, and seniors purple

Friday festivities: Cars, football, and fireworks

Homecoming activities continue Friday, Oct. 9, with a Homecoming assembly during advisory.

Students and families can also check out the Homecoming Car Show from 5-6:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, in the Stanwood High School staff parking lot on the south side of the building near Highway 532. Students are welcome to bring a vehicle they would like to show. Food vendors will be available at the event.

The week culminates Friday night as the Spartans host Snohomish for the Homecoming football game.

Then it’s time for Homecoming football as the Spartans host Snohomish.

Stick around after the game! Fireworks are planned following the game to cap off Friday night’s Homecoming celebration. Neighbors near Stanwood High School should also be aware that the fireworks will bring some additional noise to the area after the game.

Homecoming Dance

Homecoming Week wraps up with the Homecoming Dance from 7-10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, in the Stanwood High School Commons.

Tickets go on sale Wednesday, Sept. 30, and cost $15 with an ASB card or $20 without. Students can purchase tickets with cash or check at the ASB window before or after school or during lunch. Tickets may also be purchased online for $20.

Students purchasing a ticket for a date or guest must visit the ASB window. Students may only purchase their own ticket online.

Only students with tickets will be admitted, and each ticket is attached to the name of the student who purchased it. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. Students must check in and arrive at the dance by 8:30 p.m.

Students should also review the Dance Reminders before attending.
