new principal selected for 2022-23

Timothy Dickinson has been selected as the new principal of Elger Bay Elementary, Stanwood-Camano School District Superintendent Dr. Deborah Rumbaugh announced. The appointment is effective July 1, 2022.

Dickinson is currently principal and director of teaching and learning at Conway School in the Conway School District, where he has served since 2018.

“We are so pleased to welcome Tim Dickinson to our district and to the Elger Bay community,” Rumbaugh said. “He is a strong, inclusive instructional leader and effective communicator in his current school and has built a positive culture there with both families and staff.”

The process for selecting a new Elger Bay principal included surveys of families and staff on the characteristics and traits desired in a new building leader. Staff and families were included on the interview team and finalists were presented at a community meeting on March 21.

Dickinson previously served as a climate and behavior specialist and elementary classroom teacher in the Longview and Ridgefield School Districts.

He received a BA in Education from Western Washington University, and masters in educational leadership and principal certification from Western Governors University.

Dickinson will succeed Victor Hanzeli, who is retiring at the end of the current school year after more than 20 years of service to Stanwood-Camano.
